Turn Your Book into a Movie

Screenwriting Services

Turning your book into a screenplay can be a daunting task. The rules of Hollywood are much different than those of the publishing industry.

But if you're serious about seeing your book on the Big Screen, or if you've written an original screenplay not based on a book, a little insider help and guidance can often make a big difference.

Here's what I offer:

Free Script Analysis

The first 10 pages of your screenplay are critical. Why? Because you only have 10 pages to get a producer interested enough to want to read more. If you haven't done it by then, they will toss your script and move on to the next one.

Is your script ready for Hollywood?

Send me the first 10 pages. I will read them and give you an honest assessment over the phone (or Skype).  This service is Absolutely Free.

You only get one shot at impressing a Hollywood Exec. Make it count.

For more info, write screenwriter dsk @ gmail.com  Be sure to include your phone #.

Professional Script Analysis (also known as Coverage)

Includes:

Mechanics -- is your script formatted correctly? An improperly formatted script will get tossed without being read.  Is your script the proper length? A script that is too short or too long will also get tossed.

Professionalism -- does your script have any of the mistakes that are common to newbies? If it does, what to do about them.

Structure -- how well does your script follow the essential 3-Act structure? Where you can  make changes to make it work in terms of structure. Unlike novels, structure is critical to the success of a movie.

Plot -- Is your story interesting? Will it make the Hollywood Reader want to finish it and recommend it to their boss? Specific tips to give the story more Zing!

Characters -- are your characters developed adequately? How to make them more identifiable to the audience.

Action -- not to be confused with an Action Movie, the action here refers to the descriptive passages in your script.

Dialogue -- does it work? Is it memorable? How to punch it up.

Texture -- how to add that extra something to make your story richer and more satisfying

Cost:  $125

Script Doctor

Sometimes you have a great idea for a script, you've even written it, but something is just not working yet. Or you've had a script analysis but you're just not sure how to  incorporate the changes than an industry pro says your story needs.

That's when you call me in. Whether  your script just needs a couple aspirin or major surgery, I can help.

I saved the script for "The Ante," an award-winning thriller accepted into 8 film festivals in North America and Europe.  It will be out later this year. See Trailer.

The producer/director was unhappy with the script another writer did so he asked me to help. I created new character arcs, punched up the dialogue and inserted some really surprising plot twists. See review in Variety.
